What’s happening in PE with Coach King?
Everyone is good at something. I feel like part of my job is to introduce students to as many possible sports and activities as I can in our short time together. My hope is that this will spark their interest and they will find something they love to do. I promote lifetime wellness and activities.
A warmup is very important before activity.
KK & 1 students will move or dance to music shown on the smart board to get their body ready for exercise.
Students in 2,3,4,5 will participate in a daily 10 minute workout routine. It is my voice recorded giving commands while popular music plays to motivate them.
Health "Think About It"
Students will participate in a daily group talk or short writing assignment that dives into health and our body during physical activity.
Topics: F.I.T.T., Proper handwashing, 5 components of Overall Fitness
2nd grade & 5th grade participate in physical education portfolio state testing. The pretest will be at the end of August. Post-test will be in February.
Students will be progress monitoring their own fitness this year based on the Presidential Fitness Gram.
Results will be kept private, but I want them to be able to monitor their own fitness through the year.
The tests will be in August, November, & March. The tests consist of PACER (run), pushups, sit-ups, and flexibility.
